The Gospel of Mark

May 10, 2026    Pastor Joey Baynes

This powerful message takes us through Mark chapter 1, exploring four transformative responses that characterize those who have encountered Jesus. We meet Peter's mother-in-law, who after being healed from a fever, immediately began to serve—reminding us that salvation isn't about obligation but privilege. The disciples brought the sick and demon-possessed to Jesus, showing us that our mission is to point others to the Healer, not to ourselves. Jesus Himself modeled the necessity of solitude with God, rising early to pray in a desolate place, demonstrating that even the Son of God prioritized time with the Father. Finally, we encounter the leper who, despite being told to remain quiet, couldn't help but spread the news of his healing. These four portraits paint a compelling picture: saved people serve, saved people show others Jesus, saved people spend time with God, and saved people spread the good news. The message challenges us to examine our own lives—have we been truly rescued, and if so, does our response mirror these biblical examples? It's a call to move from inward focus to outward mission, from viewing service as sacrifice to seeing it as privilege, and from keeping our faith private to boldly sharing our testimony with a world desperately needing hope.
